A short and generally respectful biography of Jefferson that values his religious moderation, advanced political philosophy, and his human frailty. This is a good overview of Jefferson as a writer, statesman and thinker, and convincingly evaluates his private conflicts on the nature of power (best exemplified by the issue of slavery).
