This was depressing. It’s framed as pop sociology, but winds up being a mixture of lazy event reporting and haphazard autobiography. There are profiles of the kids he used to play Dungeons and Dragons with, a section that craps on “professional” video game players, and a confusing short story at the end. If you really want to learn about nerds, I suggest going instead to the source materials. Watch some old Star Trek episodes, read Tolkien, play “Half-Life,” etc.
